Kira Sweetlove, MA, AMFT (she/her) is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #143515 at Personal Evolution Psychotherapy. Kira supports clients and families from a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and humanistic lens in whatever phase of life they currently are at. She believes in using a collaborative, strength-based approach in helping her clients explore what it means to be able to both accept and change the obstacles they face. Kira completed her Master of Counseling at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Sociology at University of Oregon. Kira has experience practicing counseling and psychotherapy with university undergraduate and post-graduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds who presented with varying diagnoses, trauma, and personal and school-related problems. She also has experience working with vulnerable populations in need of advocacy and crisis intervention during her time at a child abuse assessment center in Eugene, Oregon and a shelter program for the unhoused in San Diego, California.
Kira found her passion about understanding the mind and human behavior during her psychology research assistant positions at University of Oregon and University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. She discovered the joy of teaching when she taught counseling interpersonal skills to undergraduate students at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. She also gave guest lectures at Griffith University pertaining to counseling patients from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.
She is being clinically supervised by Soojin Poole, LMFT at Personal Evolution Psychotherapy. PEP has been a place where she can continue this passion and grow as a DBT-trained psychotherapist.
