Sara Prushan, BA, is a Master of Social Work intern completing her field placement with Personal Evolution Psychotherapy. Sara is supervised by Sue Boyd, LCSW, BCD,  who also functions as Sara’s field instructor. She is very excited to provide DBT and work with clients at PEP. Sara brings several years of experience working with disadvantaged and dual diagnosed populations.

Sara is a Master of Social Work student at Arizona State University and received her bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies at San Francisco State University in 2015. Sara began volunteering in human services in 2015 as a rape crisis counselor with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and abuse. She has worked in the mental health system of care since 2016 primarily in residential treatment. Sara received certification as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist in San Francisco. During her time in residential treatment, Sara worked as a counselor and program director within a social rehabilitation and harm reduction environment. Sara worked as the Manager of Clinical Learning and Development with her last agency, facilitating various training on mental health care practices, interventions, and principles of social rehabilitation, and maintaining the position of client-led and client-centered care. Sara has spent the last 8+ years working primarily with unhoused communities and systemically disadvantaged populations and has a significant amount of experience working with populations with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses and dual diagnosis behaviors. Sara meets for weekly DBT team consultation with Personal Evolution Psychotherapy.
