Ivan Voronin, MSW, is an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW#79845). Ivan is a genuine, warm, patient, and non judgmental therapist dedicated to work collaboratively with clients in meeting their goals through setting up comprehensive treatment plans and using client perspectives and experiences as strengths. Ivan is dedicated to using evidenced based practices in order to address all domains of life with his clients including the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual components that contribute to a balanced existence.
Ivan earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work in 2016 from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from George Mason University, Virginia in 2013. While obtaining his Master’s Ivan worked as an outpatient therapist in a community mental health clinic as well as a residential mental health and substance abuse therapist at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA. After obtaining his degree, Ivan has worked as an Emergency Services Therapist doing evaluations for acute psychiatric hospitalizations as well as in Vista Balboa Crisis Center focusing on assisting people from all backgrounds manage crisis situations. Ivan has worked extensively with active duty and veteran population and is knowledgeable about the complex and unique issues affecting our service members and their families. Ivan has worked with children and families in a number of environments including in-home, outpatient, and inpatient settings in using the family systems perspective in order to address issues within the home as well as to collaboratively create safety and crisis management plans. He has gained experience with multiple diagnosis and co-occurring disorders including trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, substance abuse, psychosis, and eating disorders.
Ivan has experience using various evidence-based practices: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interview (MI), narrative therapy, existential therapy, mindfulness, and family therapy. Ivan enjoys providing individual and group therapy, is Kink and Poly friendly, and provides gender therapy to people of all backgrounds. He is under the clinical supervision of Sue Boyd, LCSW, BCD, LCS#24597.
