Esteban Gonzalez, MS, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. He is bilingual in both English and Spanish and is able to provide all services in both languages. Esteban provides a warm and safe environment that welcomes a collaborative space to work with clients. He believes that all individuals have the capacity to change, grow, and accomplish goals that are realistic and attainable.
He received his Master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in May of 2013. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from California State University – San Bernardino in Psychology in 2010.
Esteban completed his traineeship in an inpatient setting at Alvarado Parkway Institute, in La Mesa California. There, Esteban worked with patients with severe mental illness facilitating groups from a variety of topics from stress management, positive thoughts, cognitive behavioral therapy, and process groups. He also worked with clients that had dual diagnosis in both mental health and substance abuse. In addition, Esteban has also worked that the Community Research Foundation adult outpatient Clinic Maria Sardiñas Wellness and Recovery Center (MSWRC). There he has worked with variety clients from Transitional Aged Youth (18-25 years old), Forensic clients, and Older Adult Clients. While working at MSWRC, Esteban worked with the Case Management Department, working with clients with severe impairment of functioning who were unable to manage activities of daily living and needed additional support with connection to resources and treatment. Esteban later moved to working full time with the clinical team conducting individual therapy and group therapy. Esteban then became the Lead Clinician for the Older Adult Program. Later he became the Lead clinician for the AB109 population, which is working with individual who are on probation and are serving the remainder of their sentence in the community with the agreement to participate in mental health and/or substance use treatment. Lastly Esteban became the Assistant Director for MSWRC, leading a team of mental health professionals providing treatment to individuals with severe persistent mental illness.
Esteban has received training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solutioned Focused Therapy. He has experience working with individuals with co-occurring substance use, trauma, LGBTQIA people, transgender people, families, relationships, and different cultural backgrounds.
