Decie Jean Reyes, MA, AMFT, is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 117351). At Personal Evolution Psychotherapy (PEP), Decie provides comprehensive DBT to individuals (teens and adults), couples and families. Decie is passionate about helping all people create positive change and balance within their lives by improving the quality of their relationships with themselves, their families, loved ones, and the world.

Prior to working at PEP, Decie worked as an intern at the YMCA Project Oz program, a residential facility for teens experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, self-injurious behaviors, self-esteem, grief/loss, and trauma. She provided individual, family, group, and multi-family group therapy for clients of various cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and family backgrounds. At Project Oz, she gained experience in family systems therapy and had a unique approach in incorporating Dialectical Behavioral and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and activities in her sessions.

Before starting her journey as a therapist, Decie worked in several different jobs including childcare. This experience was humbling for her, as she worked with children of all ages in their homes and in a school setting. Holding a safe space for them to play, learn and grow as their authentic selves helped prepare her for creating the same type of environment for her clients in therapy.

Decie earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy/Law and Society at the University of California, Riverside. She studied philosophies regarding morals and ethics, human existence, and the meaning of life. She learned that the question is not “What is the meaning of life?” Rather, it is “What gives life meaning?” Her education in both philosophy and psychology helped shape her into the open-minded, creative, analytical, forward-thinking, empathetic individual and therapist she is today.

Decie is currently under the clinical supervision of Sheela Shivaprasad, MSW, LCSW. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and a member of PEP’s DBT and Gender consultation team.
