Christy Israel, APPC, is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC#7495). Christy is a warm, empathetic, engaging therapist, who holds unconditional positive regard for each of her clients. She believes, as Carl Rogers stated, “that each individual has within him or herself vast resources for self-understanding, for altering his or her self-concept, attitudes, and self-directed behavior.” Christy takes great joy in partnering with her clients, eliciting their strengths, in order for them to heal, grow, meet their goals, and live the life they desire to live.
Christy received her master’s degree in clinical counseling in 2019. She is delighted to be a part of the Personal Evolution Psychotherapy team. Christy has over ten years of experience in the mental health field, working as a crisis response counselor and intake coordinator, for outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment centers, and eating disorder treatment centers. During her practicum experience, she worked with individuals struggling with substance abuse, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, PTSD, trauma, emotional regulation, and interpersonal relationship skills. Christy conducted individual and group therapy sessions, and family reconciliation sessions, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices. She has completed DBT training through DBT Instructor, Annie McCall, MA, LMHC, and enjoys working with a wide and diverse variety of people. She has experience working with children, teens, adults, and seniors. Christy understands the courage it takes and sense of vulnerability that can often accompany seeking therapy assistance. She admires those who initiate the process, and considers it an honor to share that therapeutic space with her clients.
