L. Abbee Desue, MA, AMFT (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist) received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at National University. Abbee is passionate about the work she does with her clients. It’s motivating for her to see individuals take steps into living a more fulfilling life. She works from a person centered perspective to meet people where they are on their journey and work collaboratively to get them where they want to be.
Abbee has worked in the mental health field for over 5 years, as a case manager and counselor for an organization in east county that works with adults with developmental disabilities, a Developmental Therapist working with children from the age of 7 to 17 years old, as well as a PSR specialist for a crisis house that provides care to individuals experiencing suicidality, psychosis, mood disorders and addictive behaviors. Interventions she is experienced in include DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, mindfulness techniques. During her Practicum, she worked with adolescent boys in a group home setting, and provided individual and group therapy for co-occurring disorders, and psycho-education on substance use, anger management, and communication skills.
